What is Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy?

We’re pleased to announce that we are now offering a revolutionary new non-surgical treatment for heel pain (Plantar Fasciitis) and Achilles tendonitis. This procedure is called Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy.

Why Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy?

Chronic heel pain is very painful and often disabling. If you have chronic heel pain and have not had much success with traditional therapies (such as medication, orthotics or physiotherapy) talk to us about Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT). This new and effective pain treatment is making a difference in the lives of patients with chronic heel spurs, plantar fasciitis and Achilles tendinitis.

ESWT is a fast and gentle non-surgical method of reducing heel pain. Using a device to deliver pneumatically-generated high pressure shock waves that travel through the skin, inflamed soft tissue and bone calcifications receive high energy pulses. This helps the sore area heal stronger without any harm to the surrounding tissue. These high-energy pulsations of ultrasonic waves stimulate the body’s natural self-healing process.

Most patients require three treatment sessions, each one
taking approximately 5-15 minutes.
